Clay
The site-specific clay installation problematizes history, memory, and displacement through plants and their geographical references. It casts a material shadow of the plants that grow in the area surrounding Teachers College and re-create an indoor landscape with unfired clay. This work interacts with the space as the clay dries, cracks, and peels off the wall. While the clay motifs on the wall holds onto the present space and carries their own pasts, they invite to think on temporality as well as fragility and preservation.
