Macon Reed
Macon Reed (b. 1981, lives and works in Brooklyn, New York) holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago as a University Fellow and a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She studied Radio Documentary at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and Physical Theater at the Dah International School in Belgrade. Reed works in sculpture, installation, video, radio documentary, painting, pedagogical and participatory projects. Her work has shown at venues including PULSE NYC Special Projects, BRIC Media Arts, ABC No Rio, The Kitchen, Art F City, FA Gallery, Spring/Break Art Show, Chicago Cultural Center, Mana Contemporary, Roots & Culture, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, ICA Baltimore, Athens Museum of Queer Arts in Greece, and Transmediale Art Festival in Germany. Recently Reed was an artist in residence at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, a Research Fellow at Eyebeam Center for Art+Technology, and artist in residence at Abrons Art Center. She is currently an artist in residence at BRIC Workspace in Brooklyn, and an instructor at Brown University. She was accepted to the A.I.R. Gallery Fellowship Program for 2018-2019.
