Rafael Pagatini

Rafael Pagatini (b.1985 in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, lives and works in Vitória, Brazil) is currently pursuing a PhD in Visual Arts at State University of Campinas, São Paulo. Pagatini draws on printmaking, photography and installation to investigate the relations between art, memory, and politics. The investigation starts from the problematization of the memory of the Brazilian military regime (1964-1985) in the present, showing the relations between the decadence of the project of economic modernization and processes of social exclusion in contemporaneity. He has exhibited at the Hong Kong Graphic Art Fiesta (2011), Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo (2012), Paço das Artes, São Paulo (2016), and 20º Festival Vídeo Brasil, São Paulo (2017). Pagatini is a professor at the Department of Visual Arts at Federal University of Espírito Santo, Vitória, Brazil. His works are in public collections including Itaú Cultural, Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, and  Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul.
