Ebru Kurbak
Ebru Kurbak (b. Turkey, lives and works in Vienna, Austria) is an artist and designer who holds an M.Sc. in Architecture from Istanbul Technical University. She currently runs the arts-based research project Stitching Worlds at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Kurbak’s work emerges from her interest in the hidden political nature of everyday spaces, technologies, and routines. She lectured at the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Istanbul Bilgi University and Space & Design Strategies at the University of Arts and Industrial Design in Linz. She was an artist in residence at La Gaité Lyrique, Paris, France (2011), LABoral, Gijon, Spain (2012), V2_, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2012) and at Eyebeam, NY, US (2013) and has shown her work at Ars Electronica Festival (Linz), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Siggraph (US), Microwave New Media Arts Festival (Hong Kong), TodaysArt Festival (Den Haag), and Piksel Festival (Bergen) among others. She received the Erste Bank MoreValue Design Prize in 2015.
